Wall of Small

Group Show, Lyndsay Ingram Gallery, Spring 2020

Lindsay Ingram Gallery is pleased to present a group show of contemporary work on paper, sculpture and painting celebrating all things small. Hung side-by-side, the installation highlights their modest scale. Unburdened by size, across a breadth of mediums the works are intimate and accessible. Their imagery is necessarily focused, distilled, and undeniably appealing.

Nancy’s contributions to the ‘Wall of Small’ are called Tea Rituals – a teapot and cup set against an evocative apricot orange backdrop. Cadogan explains, ‘I am interested in the intersection between inanimate objects, which having often been made by the human hand become full of meaning and a way of connection.’ She adds: ‘the ancient tradition of tea ceremonies is a fascinating aspect of the Eastern culture’.

The exhibition includes work by:
Miles Aldridge, Mel Bochner, Louise Bourgeois, Nancy Cadogan, Michael Canning, Jeremy Deller, Ellen Gallagher, Antony Gormley, Maggi Hambling, Tom Hammick, Marie Harnett, Jacob Hashimoto, David Hockney, Georgie Hopton, Ann-Marie James, Jasper Johns, Allen Jones, Gerald Laing, Chris Levine, Harland Miller, Suzy Murphy, Yoshimoto Nara, Julian Opie, Cornelia Parker, Nicolas Party, Grayson Perry, Kelly Reemtsen, Bridget Riley, Ed Ruscha, David Shrigley, Kiki Smith, Lucy Sparrow, Wayne Thiebaud, Rachel Whiteread,  Stanley Whitney and Jonas Wood.
